COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) - පසුගිය වසර තුන තුළ ශ්‍රී ලංකා පොලිසිය විසින් නීතිවිරෝධී අවි 1,000 කට වැඩි ප්‍රමාණයක් අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන ඇති බව පොලිසිය අඟහරුවාදා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.
ගිනි අවි, පුපුරණ ද්‍රව්‍ය සහ පතොරම් ඇතුළු අවි ආයුධ අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන ඇත්තේ අපරාධකරුවන් යැයි සැක කෙරෙන ස්ථාන වැටලීම්වලදී සහ සාමාන්‍ය මුර සංචාර අතරතුරදී බව පොලිසිය පවසයි.
මෙම අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීම් රට තුළ සිදුකෙරෙන නීතිවිරෝධී අවි මර්ධනය කිරීමේ ප්‍රධාන මෙහෙයුමක කොටසක් බව පොලිසිය පවසයි.
“ශ්‍රී ලංකාව නීතිවිරෝධී අවිවලින් මුදා ගැනීමට අපි කැපවී සිටිමු,” පොලිස් ප්‍රකාශකයෙක් පැවසීය. "සියලු නීති විරෝධී ආයුධ අපගේ වීදිවලින් ඉවත් වන තුරු අපි වැටලීම් සහ අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීම් දිගටම කරගෙන යන්නෙමු."
ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ප්‍රචණ්ඩ අපරාධ වැඩිවීමක් මධ්‍යයේ මෙම අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීම් පැමිණ තිබේ. පසුගිය මාස කිහිපය තුළ රට තුළ ඉහළ පෙළේ ඝාතන සහ වෙඩි තැබීම් ගණනාවක් සිදු විය.
මෙම අපරාධ බොහෝමයක් නීතිවිරෝධී ආයුධවලින් සිදු කර ඇති බවට පොලිසිය විශ්වාස කරයි.
නීතිවිරෝධී අවි සම්බන්ධයෙන් යම් තොරතුරක් වෙතොත් බලධාරීන්ට දැනුම් දෙන ලෙස පොලිසිය මහජනතාවගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටියි.
“මෙම ආයුධ අපේ වීදිවලින් ඉවත් කිරීමට අපට මහජනතාවගේ සහාය අවශ්‍යයි,” පොලිස් මාධ්‍ය ප්‍රකාශකවරයා පැවසීය. "නීතිවිරෝධී ආයුධ ගැන ඔබ දන්නේ නම් කරුණාකර ඉදිරියට පැමිණ පොලිසියට පැමිණිලි කරන්න."
නීතිවිරෝධී අවියක් සන්තකයේ තබාගෙන සිටින ඕනෑම අයෙකු අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට හැකි තොරතුරු සඳහා ත්‍යාගයක් පිරිනැමීමට පොලිසිය තීරණය කර තිබේ.

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) — The Sri Lankan police have seized more than 1,000 illegal weapons in the past three years, the police said on Tuesday.
The weapons, including firearms, explosives and ammunition, were seized during raids on suspected criminal hideouts and during routine patrols, the police said.
The police said that the seizures were part of a major crackdown on illegal weapons in the country.
"We are committed to ridding Sri Lanka of illegal weapons," said a police spokesman. "We will continue to carry out raids and arrests until all illegal weapons are off our streets."
The seizures come amid a rise in violent crime in Sri Lanka. In recent months, there have been a number of high-profile murders and shootings in the country.
The police believe that many of these crimes are committed with illegal weapons.
The police have urged the public to report any information about illegal weapons to the authorities.
"We need the public's help to get these weapons off our streets," said the police spokesman. "If you know anything about illegal weapons, please come forward and report it to the police."
The police have offered a reward for information leading to the arrest of anyone found in possession of an illegal weapon.
